Working out, moving, and shinanigans

Well hey strangers,
So I forgot what this whole blog wiring thing is like because I have been crazy busy! So since last time I wrote I finally took the GRE, moved to a whole new state and am working out at a new(ish) gym.

So Wow there’s a lot to even cover. I now live in the sunshine state and it has been amazing so far! Still in the unpacking/organizing stage but there’s so much to do here it is not my main priority right now! Also, this is my first week at my new job training so I have a ton going on.

No worries I still am making time to work out though! Conveniently enough my gym back home is a chain and there is one 5 minutes away from my new home. It is very different than my old gym. I used to work out in the women’s weight room at my old gym and my new gym doesn’t have one but I think working out in the open will help me and force me to use more equipment and venture out.

I think this whole experience is positive and you can’t grow unless you change!
Speaking of growing I am excited I have been eating more and I have been making gains in my weight lifting! Check it:

The past two weeks I have been able to lift more and I decided to take pics to document it. It’s exciting! I like seeing that I am making progress and hope I will start seeing benefits from it.
Anyways, I just have time for a quick update but I hope that I can get back to writing! Hope you didn’t miss me too much ; )

What I Ate Wednesday

Well well, even though I didn’t think I would have time to post again this week I manages! Even though in reality it’s because I am the Queen of procrastinating and it’s what I do best so here I am just killing time I should be spending studying. whoops.

Anyways, I actually remembered to take a picture of pretty much everything I ate! Go me! Before I show the pics let me tell you about this diet I’m on this’s called I have 5 bucks til pay day. Haha postgrad life at its best.

The items I had in order counter clockwise:
1) a chocolate chip quest bar ( which of course I inhaled post work out and forgot to snap a picture of) I was still hungry after that so I ate a piece of ostrich jerky I got this past weekend too!
2) Granny Smith apple and an ounce of roasted planters nuts
3) I threw a bunch of veggies and salsa and shredded chicken together and ate it with some black bean chips..pretty yum if I say so myself!
4) dessert-the best part of the day which was 6 oz chobani plain yogurt with 1/4 cup Nature valley protein granola, 2 tbsp. cinnamon peanut butter, 1 tbsp no sugar added strawberry jelly and half a chocolate brownie quest bar. So filling but I wanted more!

Oh yeah and all this fit my macros perfectly. Whoop whoop.

As far as exercise today was an active rest day and I just ran for 5k at an easy pace. Just glad I can run again pain free!

Oh yeah, and here’s a picture I took as I was cooking my dinner that I found hilarious.

You had ONE job bro. Zucchini is not yellow squash in case you hadn’t noticed. Epic fail.

Ok, now off to study. maybe for sure possibly

Nervous Nelly

This is totally non fitness related and really probably nothing you guys care about but this time next week I will be taking the GRE exam to try and get into the graduate program! Everyone prayers, good vibes or whatever you may believe in would be much appreciated right now. I am terrible, and I mean absolutely awful at math and haven’t taken it in 6 years so I’m freaking out : / I will probably be AWOL this week so wish me luck!!

What I ate…Friday?

So I decided that I would give the what I ate Wednesday fad a try since lots of bloggers do it. Although, I decided it today and since its Friday I figured I would start today and I do what I want.

I started off my morning with this..

Post-work out breakfast of Better Oats strawberry and cream flavor with my banana isopure protein added in. Yummy. Also, a fiber one brownie. I try and get in lots of fiber and both of these are pretty high in sugar hence me eating it as my post work out meal to replenish my glycogen.

For my snacks I ate 1 oz of slightly salted planters nuts (no picture) I think you know what they look like. And I tried something new today

I tried a new plain yogurt with a teaspoon of peanut butter and cinnamon mixed in ( not the healthiest of pb’s but I worked with what I had a work) oh and my addiction of zero carb/sugar monster because it is like heaven on earth. But back to the yogurt. I usually go with plain yogurt because its healthier and less sugar but geezzzz this stuff was strong and sort of tasted like bad cheese. I think it’s because it is organic and grass fed? Who knows maybe that’s your thing then this is perfect for you!

Also not pictured, because I’m a bad blogger and forget, was tuna and a side of cauliflower, broccoli and carrots and for dinner a salad and gumbo.

All in all I’d say I ate pretty healthy especially when I have this to deal with.

Yup, this kind of crap food is always at my work. One of the benefits of working for a restaurant supply store. Lots of free food, none of which are ever healthy. It helps a girls will power for sure!

Anyways, sorry this was such a bad what I ate Wednesday Friday but I will probably get better…maybe.

Go your own way

Hey guys! Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I myself had a blast hanging out at my hopefully soon to be future home! The weather down here has been nothing short of rainy and gloomy all summer but this weekend Mother Nature got it together.

I think I will get used to that view just fine. : )
I am getting nervous because my test is coming up soon for graduate school and I hope i do well! Prayers and good vibes sent my way are much appreciated.

On the side of fitness I am still a little bummed out. I have been busy but I’m still trying to get in as much as I can without over doing it. When I first started this blog I was kind of stressing out if I didn’t work out enough or “eat clean” and I would feel guilty if I verged from the healthy path but lately I’ve been reading and seeing great results from following my macronutrients and making sure I hit them every day. I don’t want to explain it all myself so you can find the information here at IIFYM and there are some great informative videos on you tube by Layne Norton or just type in macronutrients. It allows me to really eat more of “bad” foods as long as I get my healthy proteins and fats in for the day. Also, as far as working out switching up my diet has actually helped me get stronger in the gym! I feel like I have more energy and am lifting heavier. I am also just trying to workout just to stay healthy and not to hit a certain number on the scale. Just work out for me. Now this blog is getting a little long so I won’t continue to bore you!

Sometimes times are tough

So I haven’t been posting on here as much as I should because times have been a little tough. I have been going through some things and my life has been a little hectic. I have still been working out about 5 times a week but only once a day and not as hard as I could be. I hope this will change too because I can tell a difference in my appearance and my mood. So bare with me you guys! I have mainly been busy because I’m studying to take the GRE and figuring things about because I plan to move soon! Which I’m so excited about but both of these things are stressful and I’m moving to a place where I don’t know to many people but I think change is good and it can bring about great things so wish me luck!

I know this isn’t really a fitness related post but I figured I had to put it out there!
